Dmitry Krasnopevtsev (1924, Moscow, USSR - 1995, Moscow, Russia) was a Soviet painter.
He was one of the most significant contemporary Russian artists of the non-conformist tradition. He was branded a traitor by the government in 1956 for a still life painting, and though his work was not politically or socially charged, all of his credibility as an artist was stripped away. His work was acclaimed in the West long before his own country recognized it. He had a one-man show at the New Jersey Museum of Contemporary Art in 1988, and at the Moscow Central House of Artists. The Pushkin Museum of Fine Art also exhibited his work in 1993, one of the highest honors a Soviet artist could receive.
